Suzanna Juby

Suzanna (she/her) is Johanna’s sister. (They are not twins, and have no idea why their names rhyme.)

Suzanna was born and raised in the Detroit area. After moving to Houston and teaching high school French for many years, she returned to Detroit. She manages this website, the email list, and the newsletter. For fun.

Johanna recently taught Suzanna how to do English Paper Piecing, and now Suzanna is hooked!

Note: The denim jacket Suzanna is wearing was old and badly frayed. Johanna Masko used English Paper Piecing to repair it. Sadly, Suzanna can no longer safely leave this jacket anywhere unsupervised due to concerns that someone with excellent fashion taste and questionable ethics may steal it!

Benedict

Benedict is 11 years old. He was adopted from a local animal shelter at the age of six months. His demeanor can best be described as “crabby old man.” He enjoys “cookies,” naps, and yelling at everyone to stay off his lawn.

Lucy

Lucy is 6 years old. At the age of nine months, she was discovered under the leafy canopy of the next-door neighbor’s dwarf tree where she had been meowing loudly. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle whether you want her to or not. Lucy is a drama queen. She enjoys “cookies,” being brushed, and playing laser tag.

Rufus

Rufus is a very large 4-year-old Maine Coon mix. He was busted helping himself to a catnip plant on the front porch. At the time, he was a skinny, one-year-old delinquent running wild in the streets. He was coaxed inside to the basement, lured with the promise of a hot meal, a warm bed, and a regular supply of nip.

After several months of intensive rehabilitation - and before being allowed to join Benny and Lucy upstairs - Rufus was required to paw print a legally-binding document stating that he understands and agrees to abide by the House Rules. Now, he’s a rebel who likes to raise Cain and get on everyone’s nerves. Because rules are for losers.
